TECHNICIAN (FLYS AND STAGE BIAS) – Fulltime

Job Overview

  • The Technician will serve as part of the Gaiety Theatre’s Technical Department, with responsibility for get ins, get outs, shows and upkeep of Flying system and technical equipment. Ensuring the smooth running of get-ins/outs and shows and supporting the needs of incoming productions as required by the theatre.

 

Reports To:

  • The Technician will report to Technical Manager.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Ensure smooth running and cleanliness of Fly floor areas and equipment on day-to-day basis.
  • Operation and maintenance of lighting, sound, flying and stage equipment as necessary.
  • Supervising and supporting visiting companies and casual crews during get-ins/get-outs and performances.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in a safe manner in accordance with Gaiety Health and Safety Policies, Health and Safety at Work Act and compliance with Fire Regulations.
  • Act as Duty Technician, Duty Stage Manager responsible for all backstage areas including Fire/Emergency Evacuation Procedures.
  • Keeping abreast of new techniques, equipment and operations relevant to duties.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of flying in counterweight flying houses, as lead Flys operative, for get ins, fit ups, get outs and shows.
  • Technical knowledge across multiple disciplines.
  • Get-in, get-out, show running and maintenance experience.
  • Excellent work ethic, ability to work as part of a team.

 

Salary and Hours

  • Salary commensurate with experience.
  • Permanent contract with 26 hours minimum guaranteed per week, up to a maximum annual average of 39 hours per week.
