Riverdance has had a wonderful start to its summer run here at the Gaiety Theatre. Performing to over 30 thousand people already this summer [as of July 9th], these performances have received standing ovations every night with returning audiences and newcomers alike enjoying the world-famous performance of ‘Riverdance’, first performed during the interval at the Eurovision in 1994.
On Thursday June 20th, Riverdance did their annual ‘Riverdanceathon’, which ran from 10am – 10pm at the front of the Gaiety and were joined by audiences from start to finish. This year’s charity partner was Childhood Cancer Ireland, and an incredible amount of funds were raised for a very worthy cause.
Sunday June 23rd saw the huge success which was the relaxed ‘Sensory-Friendly’ version of the performance which opened Riverdance to whole new audiences. Proceeds from this show also went to Childhood Cancer Ireland.
Riverdance is now running until September 8th at the Gaiety Theatre and this is Riverdance completely reimagined! A powerful and stirring reinvention of the global phenomenon which has now been seen live by over 30 million people with more than 15 thousand live performances!
Composer Bill Whelan has rerecorded his mesmerizing soundtrack while producer Moya Doherty and director John McColgan have completely reimagined the ground-breaking show with innovative and spectacular lighting, projection, stage and costume designs.
